New Concrete Man remix, along with other GRMRB entries!

Phew! Sorry guys, I haven’t been getting around to updating this place. I’m going to do a massive remix upload here, so stay tuned for like… five more spaces. I also got a new computer, head on to the Studio Page to check it out for details!

There’s a new Concrete Man remix. It’s Bossa Nova. Kinda short, but enjoy!

And here are the rest of the GRMRB entries.

Posted on OCReMix! Entered the GRMRB 2011! Good year.

The Prelude – OCReMix by Neblix, aka Nabeel Ansari

I finally am an official OCReMixer! It’s a very prestigious title on OverClocked ReMix since it means you passed the quality standard. About 90% of OCReMix submissions are rejected, so it’s no small honor to be on the front page. (go to the remixes page here and click on the name to get sent to the OCR page to download and read the write up!)

I remixed the prelude back in August of 2010 and I’m proud of the piece. The production could be so much better and I could employ better transitions, but I’d rather leave it to show the kind of progress I’ve been making with my music! Enjoy the remix, guys, and expect more OCReMixes to come from me!

IN OTHER NEWS:

I have entered the Grand Robot Master Remix Battle of 2011! I have learned a lot these past years, so I’m aiming to rise as high as I can in this tournament. I want to face off in either the quarter finals or semi finals. That’s my goal, because if I get there, I get to battle it out with remixers that have come a long way honing their skill in remixing.

My robot master this time is Plug Man from Mega Man 9. Round 1, which started on May 21, 2011 (battle started during the end, amirite?), was against Xarnax42 as Knight Man. My computer wasn’t cooperating with the heavy musical elements I was throwing at it, but even though it choked, I managed to create a full sounding piece. I wasn’t able to polish it much, as I had to rush in time for submissions deadline, but I still prevailed. It has only been two days since the voting started and I have already scored a whopping 25 to 0 votes!

Stay tuned for more updates!

FL Studio 10 RELEASED!

FL Studio 10 has just been released by Image-Line! For those of you who don’t know, FL Studio is a glorious Digital Audio Workstation with a modular and flexible architecture. It’s my favorite software out there, and a big advantage is that it has Lifetime Free Updates. Meaning that if you own FL Studio 10, you can get 11, 12, 13, etc. all for FREE!

FL Studio is a killer workstation and I’d recommend it to everyone. It’s easy to learn, hard to master. Smile with tongue out

Here’s Image-Line’s news post (click on the image). Enjoy!

Music Production Final Project

Here in my sophomore year of high school in 2011, I took a semester course on Music Production just to rack up some credits and get maybe recommended for an AP Music Theory course next year. We used stuff like GarageBand, Audacity, and Pro Tools. For my final project, I had to make a three song mash-up.

I did it in Pro Tools and the songs were:

Mindbender by zircon
Warhead by zircon
Back To Mad by Texas Faggot

I did some tempo and pitch shifting to keep it all consistent and just fitted the parts I liked best from the songs together via Pro Tools wav slicing.

The song is called “Mad Warbender” and is downloadable via link here:

Enjoy. All rights of the source material goes to their respective owners, of course. I can’t really take credit for much since all I did was put things together without adding my own touch, but I can say I enjoy this version as a type of club remix.

Music Section Catalogue Up – Go listen to some music!

I put my music up (finally) in their respective sections. The unifinished works are either songs I didn’t want to finish or songs I just don’t have the time or computational power (aka good enough computer) to continue working on them. If you leave comments, I can work on the song most demanded to be finished.
Anyways, go listen to some music. :P

REALLY LATE, BUT I LOST ROUND 2. AND I’M PREPARING THE MUSIC SECTION.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted here.

You may recall (or scroll down two posts) I was in a Megaman X remixing competition and I won the first round a while back. I was in the middle of mixing versus a guy named “prophetik” and his maverick was Cyber Peacock. When the voting stage started, things were looking very close, but in the end, he won by a few votes. I wasn’t as disappointed as relieved because I did not have to continue placing so many things to do on my shoulders. But I digress, and here’s the remix:

Mainframe Under Siege
I went a DnB route with some sizzlin solos and chromatically descending chords and then transitioning into some funky breakbeat dance track before going back to the original soundscape. The sound wasn’t as fat or clear as I wanted to be, but it was pretty damn good for just a day and a half of work. I wasn’t surprised I lost, but my skill level definitely did increase. I could probably fix a lot of things since this was a month ago.

Also, I revised the layout of my music section because I’m getting ready to post up some of my stuff, so stay tuned!

Kontakt 4 GET!

Ah, thanksgiving. A time when we all gather with our families to eat our own stomachs out with turkey and similarly themed items. But that’s not why I am excited for it. I am excited because of the following Friday: Black Friday. A day when products of all types endure a huge price slash. One of these products is a sampling engine called Kontakt 4. It is one of the most advanced and user friendly sampling engines developed and comes with a whopping 43 GB sample library. Kontakt 4 is normally $400, but for Black Friday, Native Instruments (the developer) turned it down to $200. I used my birthday and holiday money to purchase it, and now I am very happy. I’m definitely gonna see what kind of stuff I can crank out of it, especially since my electronica stage is wearing thin. I need to diversify my music, and getting a great highly rated sampling engine and sample library is a good start. I’ve done stuff with free soundfonts, but I’d like my music to not just be good, but sound good. To other musicians who are sadface because of their lack of quality samples: THE DEAL IS STILL ON, DUDEZ! Not only does Kontakt 4 come with a 43 GB sample library, but it is an engine used by many sample library developers like Impact Soundworks. NI also has additional sample library expansions for it, which means if you have more money, there is always room for expansion.
